I have an Apple iPhone which is on a 2 year contract with O2 and I signed up for it about 2 months ago, the problem I have is that the battery on device is only lasting about 5 hours on stand by and its clearly not right.

O2 do not want to know and advise me to call the network directly, I call then and they say that the need to send it off for repair etc,

Is this right? I am paying £35 PM + £10PM Insurance for a 2 month phone with damage what so ever to be sent away for repair.

what if anything am I entitled to?

Your phone is seperate from network service - your contract covers the SIM, and the Sale of Goods Act covers the phone. The battery won;t be guaranteed in the same way the phone is (it is viewed as a 'consumable') - however, early failures are looked at favourably. It is your RETAILER that is responsible (O2 Retail?) so telling you to contact the network is wring.

However, the iPhone makes heavy use of the battery when on standby, more so if you have GPS, Bluetooth, Data etc running. The only way to check is to ensure these services are all off, and ONLY the phone is in standby.

i used to work for o2 and the returns and repairs process is shocking. The way it works is if its out of the 1st 14 days period then they will have to send the handset off for you. This is only if you bought it online or directly from phone sales.

However if you bought it from a store then they will just refer you back to the store and they will send it off.

Hope this helps, having been on the other end of the phone normally i know that it can be a pain. so i hope that you get it sorted.
