Hi all

I recently got a letter off buchanan clark + wells saying my agreed commitment to settle my outstanding account with 02 has been dishounered and that I will have a visit by a debt investigation officer.

The debt to 02 is valid, even then it does sounds like a lot of money, maybe too much. I did a stupid thing of getting a phone on contract and cancelling it and selling the phone because I needed the money, however I have only ever received one other letter telling me to get in contact immediately.

So I did, I sent them a letter explaining to them that I am unemployed and on benefits (and have been for the last 6 months) and the most I can afford to pay a week is £1.00 with a table breaking down my incomings and outgoings. However then this debt investigation officer letter came through, which I thought was odd as it said I have failed to get in contact which is not true.

I have only just now started employment and I still wont be able to afford this massive debt as I pay rent, tax etc.

Im just looking for some advice on how to handle this situation really, I realise now that I should of sent my letter recorded delivery, should I resend it? And should I send a cover letter with it? If so saying what exactly?

Thanks for your help

Was the letter sent by registered post signed for? Dcas have a tendency to ignore letters. You are able to track the letter and see who has signed for it on the royal mail website if you send it by registered post.

If anyone from BCW turns up (highly unlikely) tell em to go away - if they refuse then simply call police to report a breach of the peace.
