Witholding No. on a fax ... 141 ?

I want to send a fax to a creditor but dont want to give out the sending fax number.

 

Does anyone know if dialling 141 before the number will withold the sending fax number as it does in phone calls ?

On my fax machine I enter a telephone no. which is printed on the fax message itself. As for the 141 working I would assume it does but it would be worth checking with your telephone provider.

Its a new fax machine and I dont think any number has been entered on it . Does it not print the number automatically ?

I wouldn't think so because the m/c doesn't know your no., so the outgoing number will be blank on the fax, however whoever you're calling may log all incoming calls automatically so the 141 should prevent that.

If you get a free fax-to-email service with somebody like Faxtastic, then you can send yourself a test fax to see how it looks and what information (if any) is appended by the machine.

If your still concerned, use a PC based fax service, don't matter what numbers are used then, as they assign a number for you, you just recieve them like emails..

 

www.efax.com is a handy one..
