I can't believe this-the cheeky b*********!

I had a few problems last year but never beyond sorting out.

They credit searched me without my permission.

Can they do this?

Doesn't seem right to me thats for sure.

They reckon they sent me a solicitors letter after my D/D was cancelled, but I never received one.

And, I phoned them up once I knew the debit hadnt been paid and set up a payment plan.

Simply cant understand why they did credit search!

Anyone help?

I was credit checked by Severn Trent.

Not when I opened an account but when I fell into arrears.

Not even anything serious.

Apparently they have been able to do this for years but now it leaves a mark on your file whereas it didnt before so you never knew.

How do they get away with credit checking me without my permission.

Surely this can't be legal can it?

Can I fight it?

Depends exactly what it says on your credit file?

I gather it doesn't say 'Default'?

If it is just an unrecorded entry, then the only people who will see it, is you and them.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Well, it states "debt collection"

Which I dispute anyway!

And I certainly wasn't told there would be a search.

Just don't see how they can get away with this?

What about data protection?

What about data protection?

Thats only the words they use when they either don't want to tell you something, or don't have it written down in front of them to read out!

They actually have no idea what it is, who it applies to, or even how to use it.

You can alway write to them and ask them what it is doing on there and they are to remove it, or you could write to the CRA (credit agency) and get them to put a note on there saying that you dispute it.

DCA's and CRA's all scratch each others backs, they even go to the same christmas functions, so unless your credit file is really that important to you, then ignore it, it'll drop off in six years anyway.

My credit file has more marks on it than brands hatch, but personally, it makes no difference to me at all, as I simply couldn't care less about it, it isn't nor has it ever stopped me from getting credit;)
