I wrote to my MP about the fact that a number of people are having charging orders set against them, by DCA's that do not have an agreement. That vast majority of these people are completely unaware of their rights, that the claimant must - amongst other things - have a valid agreement to pursue any claim. The following is the reply I got. All comments are welcome because my MP (LibDem) is keen to follow this up.

As you can see, very little is actually said apart from ensuring "her officials bring this to the attention of the judiciary".

Thanks for posting that Alan, had roughly similar from my MP from BBEP Minister or whatever other stuipid acronym they use now :-D

Good points from your letter about the consultation later in the year as regards... limit for a sale order on a already obtained charging order and the possibility of all cca1974 debts being invalidated for sale orders.

More bleeding spin. Of course consumer know they risk losing their homes What planet are these politicians on - More to the point why are creditors being allowed (with ease) to effectively convert their much more expensive unsecured loans into secured ones:-x

It's shocking double standards!!!

I used to be a home owner but I had to sell due to debt and was hounded by DCAs after a slice. I was lucky really because I sold up 5 years ago when the market was good.

Now people who own homes are descriminated against by having these things hanging over them. People who rent have no such worries unless they have loads of exspensive belongings or savings.

"To love unconditionally is the greatest gift, laughter is a close second" .To give your time to help others after being helped here is the best way to show your appreciation to your fellow CAG members.

Please note that this advice is given informally, without liability and without prejudice. Seek the advice of an insured qualified professional if you have any doubts. All my knowledge has been gained here, for which I'm very grateful. I'm a Journalist, not a law professional.

If you do PM, make sure to include a link to your thread as I don't give out advice in private ;)
