swift advances extorted thousands of pounds off me a few years ago in early redemption charges and arrears fees, has anyone sucessfully got anything back off them?

Hi fiogiff:)

The same thing happened to us with Swift a couple of years ago. We are currently in the process of trying to get them to refund the charges, but have not had much luck so far - from what I can gather they seem to like being taken to court so they can bring in their barristers to scare the poo out of the poor old litigant in person:eek:

If you have a read of the Swift sub-forum (below the individual bank sub-forums under the heading 'other institutions') you will find out further info.

I believe that where anyone has been successful they have had to sign a confidentiality clause, so not much information leaks out to those attempting to follow suit.

If you don't have a break down of your charges, it would be a good start to send off for a Subject Access Request (with a £10 postal order) via recorded delivery, then when you have these you can enter them onto a spreadsheet and work out the total owed including interest.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Regards,

Landy x
