I would appreciate help with the following situation:

I own a shared ownership 2 Bed Apartment. My share is 50%. I pay rent and service charge in addition to a monthly mortgage payment. Due to the non payment of the rent for several months, the balance was added to my mortgage as arrears. Unfortunately due to way this was calculated it meant that my credit file showed as six payments in arrears. As my mortgage was only £200.00 a month.

I did complain to the lender and they sent me a copy of the mortgage deed and highlighted that they were able to do this as they had taken on the debt to protect their interests. i.e. forfeiture of the lease.

I am paying off these arrears (currently £2500) however this has severely damaged my credit file. Has anybody had any experience of this. Part of the arrears (£550.00) have been made up of penalty charges.

I would appreciate any help/advice on this.
