This firm is not an independent debt collection agency but a department of HBOS. Despite writing to people on its own headed paper a check on the Companies House website will show that it is a Non Trading Company (Dormant) - Company Number 02332581. When its representatives telephone HBOS debtors (which they do with questionaable frequency) they hold themsleves out to be acting on behalf of their 'client.' The Office of Fair Trading website reveals that its principal place of business is 25 Gresham Street, London EC2V 7HN, which is the Head Office of Lloyds Banking Group, which now owns HBOS and is part owned by the UK taxpayer. Its Consumer Credit Licence, number 0561644, expires on 03 November 2009 and it is assumed will have to be renewed. Perhaps the OFT would like to consider whether Albion Collections/HBOS and its Officers have been misrepresenting themselves when pursuing individuals for debt, which I rather think is outside of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Welcome to the site.

Albion collections are well known to members here, who have had issues, and still have ongoing issues with their banks.

HBOS also use Blair Oliver and Scott.

If they are in any way misrepresenting customers, they are in breach of OFT guidelines on debt collection (unfair business practices final guidance 2003) and also any codes of practice they are subscribed to,where such practices are deemed unacceptable.

This would also trigger a breach under 2008 unfair trading regulations too.

Their licensing appears to be in order.

As regards their company status being recorded as dormant, there are ways they use to get around this, and in the past we have seen dormant status recorded by other DCAs-probably the most obvious one being Cabot.
