Hi

My OH has been receiving £60.40 a week JSA since April which he has been told he will get until mid September. We applied for mortgage interest relief on the advice of his JSA counsellor and we were awarded it last week. We got a really odd letter from the DWP that was so confusing. It had all sorts of calculations and today when we looked at the bank account they've paid us 20p (yes, 20p!!!) JSA for the last two weeks. I thought MIR was in addition to JSA not instead of. If we need something to live on and can't afford to pay the mortgage, surely taking it away from us and giving it to the mortgage company isn't helping us is it?

My OH called the Job Centre and even they can't make head nor tail of it. OH was assured on the phone and in his interview last week when he went to sign on that we would still get JSA but it appears that even they don't know how it works.

I feel like jacking the whole thing in now. I really have had enough and don't know how much more we can take.

Can anyone give me some advice please......

Well, just had a reply from DWP. They've taken OHs JSA and given it to the mortgage company and left us with 10p a week to live on. So if anyone is in the process of applying BEWARE!!

That's it. I'm giving up now
