Yes tips are taxable, if you receive tips as a part of your work, do you keep them for yourself or are they shared out.

my son works in a pub

 

tips are shared out. the pub is under new management. under the old this was just shared out when there was a reasonable amount per person £50 ish each. the pub was taken over in dec 08 and the tips have not been shared out since. the management are now saying they will be shared out at the end of august and added to the wages.

hi andrew sorry about the late reply.

 

i assume they mean to show this as an item on the pay slip but that is another issue my son has. there pay slips are not easy to read and always late. he has only just had his pay slip for april!!!
