Hi, i will try and keep this brief. I didn't read the small print when l bought my clio in july 02. l thought my payments of £257 a month would make the car mine after 37 instalments!!! I honestly didn't realise that l was entering into a hire purchse agreement and had to pay more to get out of the agreement. I know it is a long shot but l was hoping l may have been misled and would be able to try and get some money back.

If l can't l will understand it was a stupid thing to do but l was so desperate to have a new car as l was fed up of buying old bangers which l ended up continually papying out for.

Any help would be good,,,, thanks Maggie

But it says Hire Purchase Agreement on the front where you signed??

I've just read that again.

You have been paying £257 per month since 2002??? That make you having paid so far £21,588, for a Clio.

Are you sure this is a proper 'Hire Purchase' if so who is it with?

i wonder if the co. begins with w and ends in e!

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

No sorry l have paid for it. It was only when l thought it was mine (final instalment) that they said l could upgrade when l said l didn't want to and wanted to keep it l had to pay to get out of the hire purchase. i was wondering if it would be possible to get anything back as although l signed (stupidly l know) l felt that it was not exlained to me that l would actually not own the car unless l paid extra!!!!

That's how 'hire' purchase works. You agree to 'hire' the car for so many months and at the end of that 'hire' period, they will sell you the car for a set amount.

Until you paid that final 'purchase' fee, the car still belonged to them and was only on hire.

That 'purchase' fee will have been shown in the agreement.
