HSBC - Metropolitan Collectino Services....

Hi,

 

I used to have a HSBC credit card, but the debt was passed over the Metropolitan Collection Services as i went to prison and could not pay it. when i was released i started a payment plan with MCS £30 per month as im not working (this started almost 2 years ago).

 

I owe them about £1300. Im not working so can not afford to up the payments, but have worked out that i will be paying this for years to come!!

 

I wanted advice on making an offer to them, i was thinking about offering them £400 - £450 to close the account. (this i will have to beg and borrow to get)

 

what are my chances and does anyone have a template letter i could use?

How old is the card, are there any charges you could re-claim, have you thought about sending them a CCA.

If making a full and final offer I would offer circa 8%, hoping to pay circa10%. But that is just me personally and there are no guarantees that an offer would be accepted.

 

As said previously there may be charges etc you can claim back.

The account is about 7 years old well the credit card account was, but it was closed and the debt handed over to MCS.

 

You mention something about claiming charges back from them, what charges can i claim back and how would i go about finding out.

 

I really just want the account closed, hence making them an offer to settle.

Often any late payment charges/fees and PPI charges can be claimed back. There is a tutorial for these.

 

If you just wanted shot of them though then F&F offers might be the quickest way..... other people will post their opinions.....
