I have just signed up for my free credit report from Equifax and Experian and have noticed a few interesting things.

 

Firstly, when I have been defaulted, they dont update my file anymore (even though I have been paying a nominal amount) In the case of Halifax OD this goes back to 2006, does that mean it will be removed in 3 years or will it stay on until the debt is satisfied?

 

Only 1 out of 8 have logged a dispute, even though all have been informed that the account is in dispute.

 

There is no record on there at all of Argos card. Now I appreciate this is a good thing, but is it likely to just be an admin error? What other reason could it be omitted?

Yes all entries on your credit file, will automatically 'drop off' six years after being put on there, regardless if they are 'settled' or in 'default'

So does anyone know why my Argos card wouldnt be on there? Or is it just an error? Its never been defaulted.

and no valid reason is forthcoming as to why "6 years"

 

it seems to be an arbitrary figure pulled out of the air to suit themselves
