I have to Abbey to have all my charges refunded because of hardship.

They have answered saying they are looking into it but 3 weeks later nothing.

Anyone any ideas of the time scales with these?

They can take up to 8 weeks which is FOS timescales on complaint handling. Which address did you use?

Have Abbey sent a financial hardship closure letter yet? That should include any offer if they are making one or decline with the reasoning behind their decision.

At the moment I have only see Nationwide and 1 from Co-op that have complied with that aspect of the guidance on FH claims.

Quite funny really. They sent me £32

No mention of the rest.

I calculate over £245 worth of charges and they send me £32!

OK, now what do I do?

What does the letter say?

Are you aware that the bank does not have to refund 1p under financial hardship even if you are classed as being in financial difficulty?

No, I wasn't aware of that.

The letter basically states "we have sent you £32 in view of your current hardship" not much else really.

Write back to them and ask for a financial difficulty closure letter so that you can possibly take the case to the Financial ombudsman service. Basically, we need to know how they made the decision before arguing the case if we can.
