Hi all,

I've read previously about having a third party pay creditors to settle accounts - either with F&F or partial settlements. I've searched for the last couple of hours but can't find the detail, so can someone please explain to me.

What I recall reading is that when making these payments, it is better to get a third party to pay and then the CC company and/or DCA can't come chasing you for the rest.

Please explain how and why this is so. In my case it is actually a third party paying anyway as I haven't the funds, but MBNA have said they'll mark the credit card file as 'partial settlement' but have put in writing that they or anyone else will never come chasing any balance.

Thanks in advance.
