hello all,

I have today had a letter from Fredrickson International, stating that if I do not pay the sum of £728.61 within 7 days, they are taking court action.

Now they have a name at the top of the letter saying ;

Brand/ product: Kays

Our Client: Pheonix Recoveries.

I can only assume Kays is some kind of shop, I wouldn't know as I have never had any dealings with anyone called Kays.

I also know I do not owe anyone money!

can you tell me my best course of action now? I'm at a loss here..

Thanks so much,

That one above or something along these lines. (send recorded)

ACCOUNT IN DISPUTE

Dear Sir or Madam,

Account number: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

I must admit that I am rather bemused as to why I have received a letter from your company.

I will categorically state that I have NEVER had an account with (XXXXX)

What I require.

1 - Your official complaints procedures, which I understand as holders of an OFT licence you are obliged to have.

2 - A letter of apology for the upset and inconvenience you have cased myself and my family.

3 - Confirmation that you have not placed any adverse information on my credit files.

4 - Confirmation that you have deleted all personal information with regard to my data.

If I do not receive your official complaints procedures within 14 days, I will have no hesitation in reporting both you and 'Kays' to the Office Of Fair Trading, The Financial Ombudsman Service, Trading Standards and my local MP. This will surely bring into question your suitability to hold a licence.

I expect your due diligence in this matter.

Yours faithfully

Hmm, these DCA's might be onto something you know! Send out hundreds of letters to random people stating that they owe money and if they don't cough up a bolt of lightening will strike down upon them....

Once you've sent that off, make sure you send a complaint in to the following,

The Office of Fair Trading: Contact us

Consumer Direct who in turn report directly to Trading Standards

How to Complain

http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

http://www.writetothem.com/ your Local MP.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Oh thanks ever so much folks.

I'm not exactly wringing my hands with worry over it (too old for that) but it isn't nice to get such a letter.

I wonder how many people pay up with no argument because they are scared of the outcome?

Money making business isn't it?

Thanks again.

It would be wise to check your credit file too in case they've registered a default against you. :(

Fredrickson always send the '7 day' letter m12345.. you may get another but i found them to give up pretty easily especially when your position is strong. They rely on scare tactics for the most part:

After that account was put on hold i never heard from them again.
