Excellent news, thank you.

Next question, are all cases on hold or is it just for selected banks?

Would I be claiming back 6 years from now?

This is a tough one, this site recommends all charges back to 1995.

Banks have a requirement under the FSA Waiver to provide information back to July 2001 ie 6 years prior to the OFT test case announcement. Under the Data Protection Act no time limit exists on data.

That's okay, my account was only opened in 2001. I was concerned that it would be 6 years from now.

So July 2007 is day zero then?

Just printed out my S.A.R. and have addressed the envelope for posting tomorrow.

Am I correct in thinking that the cheque needs to be made out to Alliance & Leicester PLC?

And so the long and winding road begins.

Pretty quick with their reply, have my statements in front of me.

Looks like a total of £575 in charges.

Shall type up my Prelim letter later and send it by close of play today.

Do I need to amend the template letter at all to reflect the current stay or just keep it as is?

Great, our other account(budget) incurred charges from last month and I've just noticed they've applied £100 worth of charges to the account on Friday. Just called to ask if the charges can be returned as the money that was in there was to pay this months mortgage. I was told by the chap on the phone that nobody is able to refund it as the computer has added the charge.

Is he telling me that their entire bank is beyond human intervention?

So any ideas on how to get the money credited back or am I going to have to rob Peter to pay Paul(C&G)?

And yes they will be getting a SAR in the next few days.
