My car has died... totally kaput.

The timing chain broke wrecking the head valves etc...

Looking into this I find that Vauxhall seem to have a fault with pre March 2002 2.2 engines. The oil lubricating nozzle for the timing chain is too small to give enough oil to lubricate the belt. People have had their belts snapping between 40,00-60,00 miles. Vauxhall knew this was a problem because they issued something called field remedy 1532 and then changed the nozzle on all vehicles after March 2002.

I have found a forum where some people have been getting their broken cars fixed for free (depending on how much they have bugged vauxhall).

Has anyone come across this fault... or know anything about this?

I am going to look more into it, and then write to vauxhall... obviously my car is getting on a bit now. But if it is a known fault... surely Vauxhall should do something regardless of the age of the car. My car has done 58,000 miles.... and I have been quoted up to £2000 to get it fixed.
