Hi,

I recently sold a horsebox trhough ebay. A few weeks later I'm not gettin letters demanding their money back otherwise they are taking me to court. They claim the mileage stated in the advert was incorrect and therefore the item was misrepresented.

I was completely honest in the listing. I have a previous MOT from the previous owner which confirms the mileage as well as a receipt signed by the previous owner. I also have a sold as seen receipt from the buyer of the horsebox. I had no reason to believe the mileage was anything other than what was on the clock.

They claim that the horsebox broke down 15miles after purchase although they did not return and prior to purchase the horsebox was thoroughly test driven and inspected

Am I in the right? What should I do?

However, next time, be aware that "sold as seen" has NO legal value whatsoever. If I were a judge, seeing a "sold as seen" receipt would systematically make me suspect the seller is up to something. ;-)

Are you a trader or a private individual? Your obligations as a seller are very different depending on the answer.

Mot history can now be checked online-going back years.

This would also reveal mileage figures-I am guessing but maybe thats what they have looked at.

Will move your thread from here.
