Hi there,

since Dec 06 I've been getting letters from Lowells regarding a debt which has nothing to do with me, it seems to belong to someone with the same name but keeps landing at my door. Each time I've received a letter I've contacted them , they say that it will be noted but then a few months later another letter arrives. They also started sending me texts and when I contacted them about it wouldn't disclose how they got my number.

I'm not sure what to do next - is anyone in the same position? or have any info on how to get this resolved? It's been going on so long now that I just want it over and done with.

thanks

I bet Sam beats me to this but send them this:

http://www.consumerforums.com/resources/templates-library/86-debt-collectors/573-general-debt-letter-if-you-know-nothing-of-the-debt

Send recorded delivery and don't sign your name, just print it

They may well ignore it so as well as the letter, report them to the OFT and Trading Standards. These muppets need stopping.

Hi Sam614,

yep it's definitely not my debt and i'm panicking that I'll end up with a default on my credit rating (have checked with Experian and so far it's not listed) so its definitely time to close it down.

Overall have phoned them each time I got a letter so 5 times in all, waste of time as they've told me on each occasion it'll be closed but isn't. complete waste of money too.

this is where they have got your number from.and the monkeys have not updated the system with your denial.

stay off the phone to them.

I think they will ignore again as fox says.

maybe a direct complaint is needed

will write it for you if you want.

Thanks Sam and Fox, advice is great.

Think direct complaint is the way to go, is there a template for one?

no you have to write to them outlining your complaint.

thats why i offered to help you/or write it.
