I'm still confused though. Metro stated it was the coins with the Thistle.

BBC said it was ones with the new design (depicting part of the Royal Crest)

Someone else said it doesn't matter.

I'm just going to give mine over the bar. 7 of them are definitely worth a pint!

Just read this thread as I was offline yesterday, told the Mrs who duly checked purse.

She has one:D.

What to do? What to do?

Keep it (to see if the price rises).

Flog it, as £5800 (which one sold yesterday on ebay for) would be really, really useful at this moment in time.

If all else fails, kick them where it hurts and SOD'EM;)

I would keep it. Unless you really, really need the money.

Don't forget Sod'em it belongs to your Mrs......just how many pairs or shoes can £5800 buy?:razz:

They're going for silly money on eBay..

The people offering £50 for them are The London

Mint Office who are a private company with no

connection at all to the Royal Mint.

Why 20p in the hand may be worth £300 - Home News, UK - The Independent

It's only about a month ago that I cashed in 50 odd

quids worth of 20p's out of my fruit machine!!

bloody typical that this comes out the day AFTER i took about £400 worth of change to Lloyds TSB to change into my holiday spending money - what's betting some Lloyds TSB cashier is looking through every drawer to see how many they can find and swap for their dated ones!

there is 200,000 of these out there... its all hype at the moment.

the guy that bought one for £5000 has not got a bargain. Although I can see they will be worth something when it all settles down. I mean, there are other coins with much lower mintages that are not worth as much.

A 2003 gold five pounds in BU condition (only 812 issued) books at £550...

Granted, this is 20p a mule, but there have been others, with much lower mintages.

you are looking for a 20p with a new reverse (the one that forms part of the "jigsaw" design) and an old obverse (without a date below the queen's head)

If you can get £5000 for one, then all well and good. I am sure though that as time goes on, and more appear on the net, the price will soon come down.

I've got about 50 of these - I know because I checked the jar I save them in last night for one of those others.

its only coins with the new reverse.... ie NOT the rose, and no 2008 under the queens head.

all other 20p coins are worth 20p!

take a look on ebay... there are loads of standard 20p coins on there, and folks are bidding on them!

A lot of peeps are getting ripped off :(
