My Marbles card was transferred to Aviemore a while ago and the interest rate was hiked up to 39.9% and it worked out that I was just managing to clear the interest each month which seemed ridiculous.

I sent Aviemore a CCA request and when it went past the 12+2 days I sent the accounbt in dispute letter.

Today I received a reply to say they were obtaining the agreement from HSBC,now I must be really thick but I didn't realise that they were a part of HSBC and I'm now really worried.

I have my current account with HSBC and need to know if they can take money from my account.

I am really peeved as I have had the card for around ten years and have always paid on time and never exceeded my limit, with the old interest rate I could pay them and only stopped making any payments two months ago.

Have I been really stupid or is there any way I can recover from this situation?

Any advise would be really welcome.

Hiya westendwendy :)

Not sure who owns Aviemore but Marbles were part of the HSBC group, it may be that Aviemore have applied to HSBC for a copy of your original agreement, I would wait and see what they send you :).

Hi wendy , I'm not sure if Marbles/Aviemore is still part of HSBC - I think they sold Marbles to Aviemore - which coud mean they're no longer connected and in a position to plunder your current account.

There's a thread here which might give you some ideas about how to proceed from here - I particularly like the one pete came up with about switching your CC to a 0% interest one - I think Virgin are advertising one for 16 months at 0% , with balance transfers too ......

See how you get on with the thread and of course come back if you're still pondering - :)
