    • How much of the documentation have you seen from when probate was obtained? And do you have a copy of the original will? I can't remember. My thought about you making the decision on your own to go with another lawyer is that three of you are meant to be beneficiaries of this will trust, aren't you? Normally you would need to act together. HB

    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

I am trying to use my laptop as a wireless adaptor for my Xbox 360 so I can go on Xbox Live. I have the ethernet cable plugged in to my laptop and my Xbox. When I highlight my wireless connection and my local area connection (as it says to do on the video tutorial), and then right click and go onto bridge connections. It says I must select at least 2 high speed internet ports. I have done this but I get the same error message all the time.

I am only doing this to save 50 quid on the Microsoft wireless network adaptor.

What you want to do is connect your laptop to your router wirelessly, then you need to connect your xbox to your laptop via the ethernet cable.

Open the control panel and select network connections, right click the wireless connection (the one that gives you internet) and click properties. Click on the advanced tab and check the box asking "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection". Then in the drop down box, select your Xbox connection (which should be called Local Area Connection).

If that doesn't work, highlight both connections and click bridge connections.

if both are using the same final connection , IE your actual intenet connection it will not bridge, it has to see 2 actual independant connections to the internet, e.g, a wireless connection fron next door etc and your original one, or if you have 2 separate ADSL connections e.g, 1 cable and one over BT line or any 2 of these

Hi Kip, and thanks.

I have two laptops connected wirelessly to my router. It says it can run up 2 four computers from it. If you watch this

and any others on there. I have done exactly what they tell me to do.

its a bit confussing for many the actual windows bridging requires 2 high speed connections to the internet, not 2 connection into 1 router, there are other prg's that will do it

what some people do is have 2 connections to the laptop 1 wireless 1 net cable / or any 2 of the above ( using extra wireless dongle etc or a usb net dongle making it 2 utp connections ) to increase the bandwidth

in theory with 2 connections on the laptop you should be able to bridge them

you need to highlight both connections then select bridging as in pic below

I seen something somewhere that I may need to manually change my IP address for the Xbox to recognise it. It was on You Tube somewhere. My laptop shows me exactly what I would expect to see when I try to bridge the connection. I have the ethernet cable plugged in to both the laptop and the Xbox, I also make sure the Xbox is turned off whilst I try to bridge the connection. Is it possible that it won't work because the router is already shared. I think the error message says I must have to LAN, High Speed connections that are not shared for it to bridge?

does the xbox see the router , if not double check if it needs XOVER cable ( crossover ) or if you have used a XOVER and it needs straight cable, dont play with games things so cant try the setup here

if you connect 2 pc's without a router you have to use a XOVER cable to use ICS ( internet connection sharing ) similar problem with printer that are networked , they need XOVER cables

I'm not sure Kip. It's a brand new Xbox and the ethernet cable came with it. I have just tried to connect it straight from the modem with the ethernet cable. It said that the Xbox can't configure my IP address. I don't want to mess about manually changing my IP address.

ok simple test

btw crossover cables normally have XOVER marked on the plug/cable

does the laptop connect with a network cable ? if yes try that on the Xbox

also try the cable that came with the Xbox on the laptop

if both work on the laptop you DONT have XOVER

a few forums say you need a XOVER cable to connect the Xbox

I've just tried to manually program my IP address into the thing, but it wants a bloody subnet number and gateway number?????

My laptop won't bridge connections because I need two high speed internet connections that are not being used by internet connection sharing????

ok

is this what your trying to do

"Xbox" > wireless > "Laptop" > network cable > "router"

or

"Xbox" > network cable > "laptop" > wireless > "router"

problem seems to be you need a wireless connection from Xbox to router, but its @ a £50 cost for the unit,

how far is the Xbox from the router

My laptop is connected wirelessly, I have the ethernet cable that came with the Xbox going from that to my laptop (which is then the local area connection). If you look at all the videos on YouTube, it is a simple case of bridging the wireless connection and the local area connection. I have highlighted the 2 (keeping ctrl pressed and then clicking on them both), and I have right clicked and then clicked on bridge connections.

I think the problem is that the wireless connection is a shared connection. It tells me that it can't bridge shared network connections. The router is obviously shared as my son has his laptop connected wirelessly also.

test by removing his connection

can you run a utp cable to his, that would remove the "shared connection"

if the router has spare ports you could get el'chepo wireless DSL router ( DSL , cable type ) and connect that to the router and let him use that connection

I have managed to bridge the network connection, but the Xbox itself will still not connect to the internet. At least I'm moving in the right direction. lol

It is set to automatically detect my IP address, but it is saying that I need to go to my router configuration web page and make sure my DHCP(????) is set right. I don't know how to get my router configuration web page:confused:.

Connect direct to the router with a Ethernet cable and try and open a webpage and put 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and when it goes to the next screen use the username of "virgin" and the passphrase "password" and that should take you to the Netgear configuration pages.

this should be right
