Hi All

I'd be wary of Mr Lender, who appear to take payments for loans that you no longer owe them money for and then state that they "cant find it in their accounting system."

My tale of woe so far is:

11th March - Loan funded for £100, leaving £125 outstanding with them.

27th March - Loan repaid.

20th April - further loan funded for £100, leaving £125 outstanding with them. The repayment date according to the credit agreement was 28th May because they needed a 15 day window to set up the repayment and we were already inside that window.

30th April - Loan repaid, (£125) obviously much earlier than the 28th May. I have checked the credit agreement and the repayment date clearly states 28th May. This payment however left a £0.00 balance with them.

1st June - Further payment of £125 taken from my debit card.

Telephone conversations with them have proven a little useless. They can find no record of the 30th April payment, despite this clearly showing on my bank statement.

They refunded the £125 on 5th June and have debited it again this morning ! The mind boggles.

The latest response I have from them is:

Following our conversation last week, I advised you that we had in fact deposited £125 for the refund for your 2nd loan that you stated did not have.

I also advised you that after checking our records, it appeared that you did in fact have a 2nd loan so we cancelled the refund for the £125.

You then sent across some statements which you believed showed that we took payment twice for the 2nd loan which means you would in fact be entitled to a refund of £125.

We cannot match this up in our accounts that we have charged you twice for your 2nd loan.

Please send us original statements showing this, to Mr Lender, 620 High Road, Leytonstone, London, E11 3DA.

As soon as we receive these, if it does in fact show that you have been charged twice for your 2nd loan, we will of course refund you the £125 plus I will still honour the £25 good will gesture for the inconvenience casued.

Hope this helps and please feel free to contact me (after 4pm as am in meetings most of the day).

I have scanned them bank statements detailing my whole life since the 11th March when they funded the first loan. Surely I don't need to send them originals as well. I don't have originals for the latest credit and debit as my next statement won't be sent out until 1st July so I have sent them scans from my internet banking. Whilst I appreciate the refund of £25 interest charge, this is just not good enough. I am out of pocket and need the money to live on. What proof do they need other than my bank statements ?

I also don't think it's great customer service to say "I'm in meetings all day so you have to wait until 4pm" when this has been going on over a week. I understand mistakes are made but it's not my fault that their accounting systems have an obvious error somewhere! They also say that they can't do a same day payment and have to refund to the debit card, which takes days. I find this hard to believe when every payday loan company "prides itself" on getting the money to you the same day.

Right, rant over. Phew ! That's better.

Any advice much welcome on how to proceed.

Many thanks all :-)

I'd 'lose' my debit card and ask for a new one :)

Well, I came to an 'arrangement' with them to pay them a certain amount per month and despite this I still get phoned about 10 times a month, texted and emailed with threats that £180 will be added to my account unless I ring them. I got bored with replying to their emails with words to the effect of 'here we go round the mulberry bush' so I have changed my phone number and blocked the email address.

lol. let me guess. it's from Laurence? Mr Laurence can't do sums very well, my amount keeps on going up each month and I have to remind him what the amount is I still actually owe.

EDIT: PS. come to think of it, I think Mr Lender might be a one man band.

Yep, it's Laurence. He's quite phenomenally stupid.

He isn't very discreet either. He sent one email to me and at the bottom was a long drawn out correspondence between him and somebody called Karen. This is dreadful.

There was a girl called Chermaine working there last year but I'm not sure she's there any more - however Laurence does keep referring to his 'supervisor'.

if i was u i would cancel your debit card and order a new one and also instruct your bank not to set up any direct debit from these people.

This DOES NOT stop them taking payments. I cancelled my card and a few days after the new card was issued they took a payment from my account. I rang the bank (Halifax) to ask how this was possible and they said if you have made previous payments to them they can use your old details!!!!! The bank did refund the money but said this was a one off and I needed to talk to Mr Lender to ensure it didn't happen again.
