Just looking back at some of my paper work and I noticed that one letter I had last year from a DCA stated that they had added an administration charge of £23.94 to "offset some of the costs incurred by our client." I didn't take any notice at the time as I sent the standard letter asking for a copy of my CCA and never heard anything again, but it did get me wondering.

Are these charges legal, and is there any way to challenge them in case it happens again?

Thank you.

a dca has no authority to add interest or any charges, esp if they are 'just' collecting.

they shouldn't really do so even if they own the debt.

but, sadly, many are an authority to only themselves until challenged.

the thing here is the unenforceable CCA, certainly rules out such actions,

as they then have no authority to do anything.

now, did you get the charges back from the OC in the first place, if not, away you go....

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

No....fact is you paid them by choice.

WAIT for the DCA/Purchaser to start court action BEFORE requesting a true copy under CCA'74.

Challenge them if it happens again???

Yes... accept their offer of court action and sit back and wait for it happen.

They will pay for legal action.....and lose.

HOIST BY THEIR OWN PETARD.

Blimey it works....:-)
