Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me, because I feel as though I have just been mugged.

I booked two flights to Mallorca for the height of the summer season, August 5th. The booking was made through Easyjet in mid-May.

Unfortunately, my boyfriend (who lives 50 miles away) had booked the very same flights after getting his wires crossed with me during a telephone call.

Hence we had twice as many flights as we needed! I know it was our fault, and was willing to pay a fair admin charge - but I feel the penalty from Easyjet is totally disproportionate.

They want to keep £150 of the £400 total costs! It is virtually impossible to contact them. The web page will only answer pre-prescribed questions, and when I sent an email I got as reply telling me NOT to reply! It was sent from [email protected]. I'm sure the email address speaks volumes about Easyjet's approach to customers.

I was wondering if anyone has ever successfully challenged these charges in the small claims court? I am on a very tight budget, and £150 is a lot of money to me.

As I say, it WAS our mistake - but I don't expect to be coshed over the head with a metal bar.

Plus: surely the duplicate seats we booked on a height of summer flight to a popular Mediterranean hotspot will be re-sold by Easyjet between now (June) and August?

It's given our (rare) holiday a really sour feel.

As much as I feel for you, it has to be said that technically they do not have to refund you anything as a contract was formed when your boyfriend booked the flights.

I think in this case they have been fair, as they can now see on their records the duplication.

Whilst I appear negative, I think you should consider your luck that at least you got some money back and can afford to go on holiday-as I am sure many can't.

Negative!!!! I've been flying worldwide as a photojournalist for 28yrs, and apart from Ryan Air who I wouldn't even consider as an airline unless I wanted to ship animals for slaughter, Easy Jet staff are the level of employees who's only alternative would be MacD!!!

Your address is South Beds............so,let me guess..........YOU WORK FOR EASY JET at Luton!!!

Because no-one other than a jobsworth would consider THAT offer fair and reasonable.

I used to use Easy Jet all the time because its a quick drive from NW3 (you know, that expensive part of London that you couldn't afford a parking space in), but after so much over booking of flights, semi-literate staff, rules they make up as they go along, attempts at having an intelligent conversation with a 'manager' who was so unkempt the cleaners at Luton looked more responsible, I just decided enough was enough..............and discovered that my habit of convenience was me being lazy and stupid.

I could get flights on real airlines for the same pries or less, get free food and drinks, pleasant staff who even if they spoke English as a 2nd language were much more literate and comprehensible than the pond life employed by Easy Jet.

When they were cheap one could tolerate an airborne bus for an hour or so, but now, forget it. They are not cheap in anything apart from their standards.

Caveat Emptor....................look it up.

Ummmmmmm...........yes! I'm literate but only just discovered your site and so far as I'm aware Easy Jerk are still a functional business.

Therefore anyone looking for PROBLEMS WITH EASY JET will still get to read this.

The information is relevant, the company is still erratic and maintained by people I wouldn't trust with polishing my boots, therefore why are you telling me this?

Easy Jet, only just above Ryan Air, employees half a step from the Job Centre.

My comments are as viable today as they were 3yrs ago.

And as someone who goes thru a 30 page 10yr passport every 12 to 18months I can tell you more about air travel than 99.9999% of the world population.

And I fly economy but 25% of the time sit in business because I

1; know all the rules (SFUG) & (NSFUG)

2; on the routes I fly a lot I know the crew

3; what I said was as mild as is possible to be with Easy Jet so it would not get off-sited

So.......what is your problem?

I've shown my passport and e-ticket to EJ staff and they STILL can't type my name correctly when its on two documents in front of them!

My cousin is married to a Swiss Air pilot and my ex works for Singapore Airlines, my personal favourite. And within the industry RA and EJ are the end of the line for pilots. Its widely thought and said by many industry people that ALL pilots should be breath tested before every flight.

With the cheapest end of the market it should be a full urine test etc because a lot of them only have one alternative left which is flying 747/757 freight flights...........ie. airborne HGV driver

But actually the HGV drivers are under far more scrutiny than the alcoholic and medicated airline pilots.

There is SO much more I know and would love to say, but its going into a book on the reality of flying, and you would delete it anyway.

Information doesn't go out of date, get it?

Many thanks for your utterly pointless message. You've just given me the opportunity to say more that is still relevant.......

Cheers!
