Hi,

I received a letter from Red which concerns a debt over 9 years old.

This has been passed from pillar to post around various DCA's.

To my amazement, I contacted them and informed them this was statute barred.

Without even explaining why, the guy on the phone said 'Thats fine, you'll have a letter in the post tomorrow confirming this from us'.

Thanks!!! Just seems a bit easy! I have sent a letter just incase anyway.

I'd send them the statute barred letter, until you formally write to them stating that you will not be paying towards a debt that is barred by the statute of limitations act then they can continue to pursue you / pass it on to another DCA...!!

Correct....and send the letter recorded too...keep the slip and a copy of the letter in case somebody like Thames Credit, Ruthbridge or Mckenzie Hall appear on the scene

Sent today. Does this mean they cannot resell it if its acknowledged?

should not but they prob will.

as 42man says, inform them in writting, phone calls can be denied;)

before finding cag,I like you called them as the debt was 8 years old.

they asked if i meant it was statute barred(didnot at the time know what that meant:oops:)

did not recieve a letter confirming this from them.

and the calls and threatograms started 6 months later.

with a made up last payment, joined cag,and saw them off.

you can report them straight away if they contact you after signing for your letter,
