Hi all

We have been receving council tax and housing benefit since february this year, and it has been an absolute lifesaver for us.

Today I received a letter saying that they are sending a visiting officer to our home to ensure the correct benefit it being paid to us.

Does anyone know if this is standard procedure, or do you think we are being investigated for some reason. I know we are not doing anything wrong as I was completely honest with the claim forms, but I'm still really nervous. Plus I will have to take a day off work for the visit and I'm self employed so won't earn anything that day..

Any advice or experiece of this would be gratefully received!

Thanks,

Casperlady

Hi there... no, do not worry as this letter is just for them to check that you are right on the benefit. The officer will double check your details and make sure your claim is fine. It is standard procedure and not an Investigation. Don't worry.
