    • I came across this discussion recently and just wanted to give my experience of A Shade Greener that may help others regarding their boiler finance agreement.

We had a 10yr  finance contract for a boiler fitted July 2015.

After a summer of discontent with ASG I discovered that if you have paid HALF the agreement or more you can legally return the boiler to them at no cost to yourself. I've just returned mine the feeling is liberating.

It all started mid summer during lockdown when they refused to service our boiler because we didn't have a loft ladder or flooring installed despite the fact AS installed the boiler. and had previosuly serviced it without issue for 4yrs. After consulting with an independent installer I was informed that if this was the case then ASG had breached building regulations,  this was duly reported to Gas Safe to investigate and even then ASG refused to accept blame and repeatedly said it was my problem. Anyway Gas Safe found them in breach of building regs and a compromise was reached.

A month later and ASG attended to service our boiler but in the process left the boiler unusuable as it kept losing pressure not to mention they had damaged the filling loop in the process which they said was my responsibilty not theres and would charge me to repair, so generous of them! Soon after reporting the fault I got a letter stating it was time we arranged a powerflush on our heating system which they make you do after 5 years even though there's nothing in the contract that states this. Coincidence?

After a few heated exchanges with ASG (pardon the pun) I decided to pull the plug and cancel our agreement.

The boiler was removed and replaced by a reputable installer,  and the old boiler was returned to ASG thus ending our contract with them. What's mad is I saved in excess of £1000 in the long run and got a new boiler with a brand new 12yr warranty.

You only have to look at TrustPilot to get an idea of what this company is like.

    • Dazza a few months ago I discovered a good friend of mine who had ten debts with cards and catalogues which he was slavishly paying off at detriment to his own family quality of life, and I mean hardship, not just absence of second holidays or flat screen TV's.

I wrote to all his creditors asking for supporting documents and not one could provide any material that would allow them to enforce the debt.

As a result he stopped paying and they have been unable to do anything, one even admitted it was unenforceable.

If circumstances have got to the point where you are finding it unmanageable you must ask yourself why you feel the need to pay.  I guarantee you that these companies have built bad debt into their business model and no one over there is losing any sleep over your debt to them!  They will see you as a victim and cash cow and they will be reluctant to discuss final offers, only ways to keep you paying with threats of court action or seizing your assets if you have any.

They are not your friends and you owe them no loyalty or moral duty, that must remain only for yourself and your family.

If it was me I would send them all a CCA request.   I would bet that not one will provide the correct response and you can quite legally stop paying them until such time as they do provide a response.   Even when they do you should check back here as they mostly send dodgy photo copies or generic rubbish that has no connection with your supposed debt.

The money you are paying them should, as far as you are able, be put to a savings account for yourself and as a means of paying of one of these fleecers should they ever manage to get to to the point of a successful court judgement.  After six years they will not be able to start court action and that money will then become yours.

They will of course pursue you for the funds and pass your file around various departments of their business and out to third parties.

Your response is that you should treat it as a hobby.  I have numerous files of correspondence each faithfully organised showing the various letters from different DCA;s , solicitors etc with a mix of threats, inducements and offers.   It is like my stamp collection and I show it to anyone who is interested!

Im in the same boat as all of you, I paid Claim Mgmt UK £275, and this has been going on since Feb, its now June, they quoted me the usual 28 day sh!te, and I cannot get hold of either of them, it appears Tate Lloyd have gone off the radar, Natasha Lloyd whose mobile number is or was 07837 700821, just lets the phone ring until the answerphone message comes up, Geoff or Jeff Tate however you spell his first name resigned early on as his @rse must have been twitching at the prospect of a lengthy jail term for fraud, Natasha Tate was probably Caroline 2009 who did her level best to try and bum up the T/L company, so instead of doing what she had been paid for, she obviously just sat replying to this forum, whilst banking the £95 out of each potential claim, There must be hundreds if not thousands of vulnerable may I say desperate people who have been sucker punched by this "[problem]" me included.

I have a mate who is a journalist on one of the major daily papers who also has friends working on the big tabloids, and I'm giving him all the information on this details, he is mega interested in reporting this, and hopefully if we then lobby "Watchdog" and "Rogue Traders" then maybe we can get these people where they belong "Behind Bars preferably on section 47" with all the other filth that prey on normal human beings

Have you checked Companies House, as Geoff Lloyd's home address is on there? I obtained company information from Companies House as I was concerned about this company and the form that he has completed he has put his address on.

I may try writing to him at home....

Hi all. I've been following this thread for about a month now. And feel I need to contribute, as there has been loads of useful information on here.

I am also in the same boat as everyone. I was approached by Claim Management UK, paid them a nice hefty fee of £680 to clear 3 credit cards back in February. And was passed on to Tate Lloyd. As with everyone, I could never get hold of Tate Lloyd to get any kind of update.

But about a couple of weeks ago, Claim Management UK posted a reply in this thread stating a 'public apology'. Strangely or rather worryingly, the post has now been removed. But basically for those who didn't see it, CMUK was explaining the situation between themselves and Tate Lloyd. Apparently CMUK has severed any future and current business with Tate Lloyd as they could not handle the volume of work. CMUK then went on to say that those people with claims going through Tate Lloyd could now be transfered to a new legal team free of charge.

I have managed to get hold of CMUK and have switched my claim to another legal team. The claim basically starts all over again now, so the past 3 months have been a complete waste of time.

Don't get me wrong, i too still think this whole thing is possibily a [problem]. But I have managed to get in contact with CMUK on 3 occasions now, and am starting this process again. Maybe I'm a mug for doing this, but at the end of the day what have I got to loose. They've already got the money. I'll just have to wait (again) and see. Although I'm not holding my breath.

If anyone is still trying to get hold of CMUK for answers, try this number as I've managed to get someone on the other end everytime. 01792 476500.

If anyone is brave enough and decide to go down the same root as me and switch your claim. Don't hand sign the paper work that comes through from CMUK. As this will be forwarded on to your creditors. And as i've recently learned from other forums, banks/creditors are able to scan your signature from one form (the one you send them), and apply it to the agreement, then print it off. Obviously it's completely illegal, but they'll try anything. CMUK apparently aren't aware of this and are looking into it. What you do is digitally apply your name as the signature. That way they can't use it on anything else. As it's not your correct signature.

Hope this is of some help to people.

Hello SPW78.

This is all new to me, surely you would expect CMUK to contact each and every one of us directly concerned, as basically our contract lies with them, it is them who have taken the money from us.

I would be keen to know if this new "Legal Team" are actually "Bone Fide" solicitors, and not another couple of pretenders.

Ive had an e mail this morning regarding this whole matter and the BBC are interested in this whole story, I have agreed to co-operate with them fully.

If I were Natasha Tate or Geoff Lloyd, I'd be quite concerned just now, I hear Jail is a cold lonely place.

Hope your new system works, myself im going to contact my credit card company and report it as a [problem], and try and claim back my £275 that way, and just put this whole mess down to being naive whilst struggling financially.

Good Luck anyway, fingers crossed for you

Yeah i completely agree with you steff63 on the legitimacy of this new legal team.

Considering I don't even have a company name or number for them yet.

I was emailed regarding the BBC's interest as well. Sounds good, although i'm in two minds whether to contact them. It should be a 'no brianer' I know.

I think I'll continue with the claim transfer for now, and keep this thread updated as to the progress. That way if (or when) it turns bad, it'll stop other people from doing the same. I can be the guinea pig.

Well i may be joining you with the BBC investigation if I decide to go that route. Hope you can sort something out with your credit card company and claim your money back.

Keep us updated as to how that goes.

Hi all I have just been talking ti c/m they have informed me that they are sending me authorisations papers in the post today I should sign and return them ASAP they are going to retrive my file from tate lloyd and within 12 days they sre going to ask my creditors to provide them with the credit agreement after which they should be able to eradicate my debt sio I am giving them the benefit of doubt I told the guy I spoke to that I had been approached by the BBC and if they don't have a result by the end of the month then I will be talking to them. This guy reassured me that they were not to blame as Tate Lloyd were giving wrong advice not able to keep up with the work load . He also told me that c/m having been doing this work for 11 yrs and this is the first time they have had such a problem I'm still in doubt but I'm giving them a chance it can't get any worse if it does I can always get the payment back as I payed by credit card minus the admin fee.

I spoke direct to the manager today he has told me that c/m uk are not trading with tatellyod anymore he was very appolagetis I was told that they had recieved the paper work from me and they should be in touch with me after 12 working days hope fully with good news maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel

Hi,

I Found out that c/m have paid 50 pound per client to Tate-Lloyd.

I have paid 350 pound to c/m and this was only for one credit card. I wonder how much i would have paid if i had 3 credit cards!!

I think that c/m are to blame, because they took our money not Tate-Lloyd, That makes them in law the contractors.

I think you guys are barking at the wrong tree

Yes I agree with you richard54. I think the majority of people on here are blaming the wrong company. Although having said that, I think the biggest upset people have with Tate-Lloyd is that they are the one giving false information. They inform people that once the debt is in dispute you have a right to withhold any further payment. Which I think is actually true. But the problem has been that Tate-Lloyd have been so slow and rubbish at dealing with these claims, that everyone thinks their claim is in dispute and stops paying. When in fact the creditors haven't even received any requests from Tate-Lloyd. As a result this is leaving people in arrears.

I'm not saying CMUK are any better of course. As they claim that the debt will be cleared in 28 days. Yeah, more like 28 years if you're lucky!

I paid for 3 credit cards to be cleared at the cost of £680. Which would mean that CMUK have made a nice tidy profit of £530 out of me.

HHmmmm. Now i feel even more of a mug!

I'm just glad that i chose to keep up the monthly payments. I feel so sorry for those that didn't. Not only have we all put our trust and faith into these companies, but also been robbed of a large initial cost and been forced into even more debt.

But hopefully with all the interest from the media that's gathering pace, something may actually get done about these companies.

I'm interested to know out of all the people on here that have been contacted by a journalist, how many have followed it up?

I Know, But fact of the matter is that no company can operate on 50 pound per client. I am a businessman of 24 years and i have calculated the costs roughly, there is no way that Tate-Lloyd could have existed on that.

Hi,

I think the false promises were made by C/M UK, because I phoned Tate-Lloyd in march, and asked them why my process took so long, as I was told by C/M UK it only takes 28 days, and I should stop making payments ( I am glad I didnt stop making payments). I was told by a member of Tate-Lloyd that C/M UK have no permission to tell people this. So my guess is, that C/M UK have given false information in order to sell it. These callcentre guys are working on commission, and will tell you anything to sell the product, and this is not the first time C/M UK is in the line of fire, you can google them.

I think I will complain to the MOJ about C/M UK, as I think the managers there have made a fortune on this.

C/M told me not to make any payments, as the accounts should be frozen, by law, whilst in dispute. It would seem we are all getting different info from the same company. I was hoping that this would all be sorted by now and that it was taking so long because of back log. However, I am still waiting for my final letter and have been for at least three weeks, although C/M told be it would only be another week before it was all complete. I have tried ringing C/M, got through yesterday and left a message for the person who had been dealing with my case, who was going to call back in 15 mins. Still waiting. Tried calling today, just get message that all operators are busy, leave a message and someone will get back within 4 hours. Still waiting. Looks like I will be getting advise from a real solicitor regarding all of this. Sick of it now. Have also written to C/M asking many questions, still waiting for reply. Surprise, Surprise.

Hi there, i was wondering if it was Cliams management you was dealing with or CMUK, any help would be great, Thanks Den.

Hi Den. I'm glad you found this thread. I was in the same situation when I came on here. Not knowing what was going on and which way to turn. But there is a lot of useful info on here and as you can see, there are plenty of us in the same boat.

I haven't posted anything for a while, because I've noticed that nobody else has. So I didn't think anyone was following the thread anymore.

As you've probably read from my most recent posts, my claim was going through Tate Lloyd (via CMUK) and as a result of Tate Lloyd being useless I managed to track down someone at CMUK and have my claim transferred to another company.

I still to this day, do not know the name of the company dealing with my claim. But something must be happening, as I have had through my credit agreement from one of my creditors. When I phoned CMUK to see if they had also received a copy of this agreement, they told me they hadn't and that I was to forward it on to them.

As of yet I haven't done so, because I'm concerned as to why the creditor is sending the agreement direct to me, and not CMUK. That's what we're paying the money for. For them to take the hassle out of our hands.

So still not knowing what to do, i have recently been to Citizens Advice. Which have told me not to have anymore dealings with CMUK, sever all contact with them. And basically told me, that I've lost the money I paid them and that I won't get it back.

And by talking to other people and scanning other forums, this seems to be the case.

I believe that some people on here are trying to claim the money back from their credit card companies by reporting it as a fraud, but as nobody has posted for a while. We don't know if they have been succesful?

So I don't want to be the barer of bad news, but it looks like we have all been completely conned and have lost the money. And there's nothing we can do about it. I think steff63 summed it up best with saying that we have to put this whole mess down to being naive whilst struggling financially.

My advice if you're in debt, is to make an apponintment with Citizens Advice. They have been pretty good with me. And I am now considering several options to get out of my debt.
