Hi,

I had a some new windows installed by Zenith 6.5 years ago. My finance was with GE Money.

In August of 2007 I had financial problems so i wrote to them explaining that i would like to make an offer of settlement to them and made them an offer with details of my financial situation, my first offer was turned down so I then wrote again stating that if they did not accept this offer then I would be unable to proceed with payments due to my financial situation.

They then turned the second offer down and were quite abrupt with their reply so I wrote back with a letter of complaint and also addressed the Mis-sold PPI.

I then received a reply stating that they were dealing with my complaint and would reply within 4 weeks. I received a further 2 letters stating the same and from December 2007 until March 2009 heard no more. Except 1 letter informing me that the interest rates had risen!! I realised that this problem was not going to disappear but at the time it helped with my financial status so I didnt pursue it.

Last week i recieved a yearly statement showing my arrears with an extra £1600 added, and today i recieved another letter stating that I have arrears that require attention and also stating that they had added another £50, to employ an investigator to find out my address, because i had not told them where i had moved to?? I am in fact still living in the house that we are still awaiting a reply to our complaint and also where the windows were installed by Zenith.

I dont know where to start or whom to ask for help. Can anyone advise me please

many thanks

You could send a SAR which will cost £10 & they will have 40 days to supply the information. This will do two things basically, the first will show whether any agreement you have with GE money is in fact enforceable, the other will help you determine what unfair charges may have been added which you can reclaim. Send letter #9 The Consumer Forums - Debt collectors

When you receive your agreement back, scan it, remove any identifying details & post it up here and we'll advise you from there.

Hi

I was in the process of putting together the letter and to forward the postal order, when we recieved another letter stating that interest was now being added daily and has been since we have not made a payment since December 2007. When calling they said that we were now in arrears and they would not remove the extra daily interest until the arrears were paid.

They admitted to composing a letter to be sent to us in January 2008 but they said that when letters are posted out they are scanned but this was not so they admitted to not sending our reply to our second offer of payment and our complaint.

Unfortunately my partner was very concerned that the interest was increasing so he went to the citizens advice who sent him to a free debt advisory service who called GE money and tried to compromise on the payments, he was so stressed by all of this so he borrowed the money and paid the full amount off for the whole debt!!! The debt company has now told us to fight for the interest charges from January 2008-NOW and the PPI that we feel we were wrongly sold, they then sent him on his way.

We are now in debt to our family for the sum of £8,300. can anybody help us to replace any of these funds?

Many thanks

Still send the SAR it'll help you determine what unfair charges you can claim back. See Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) - The Consumer Forums with regards to reclaiming PPI.

thanks again will send it and post reply.

Any idea what we can do about the interest that they have added? We do

realise now that we should have carried on with the payments but we did inform them that we could not afford to and the reply was never sent to us!

many thanks

You can still reclaim any unfair charges that they have made & that includes interest.
