Hi my husband went to look at a car on Sunday. He said he was interested in buying the car but could not make a decision without me. The salewoman asked him to pay a £50 holding fee and said that it did not commit him to buying the car and if i didnt like the car on viewing we could have the money back it was simply to stop them selling the vehicle to anyone else.

I have not been to see the car as our circumstances have changed and we are not in a position to buy the car now. My husband telephoned this morning to explain and was told no refund or at least she could not refund until boss back on Tuesday next week. She said she had turned 2 people away this week who were interested in the car.

We need the money back urgently. My husband did not sign any agreement. He simply has a receipt for £50 with holding fee written on it.

Where do we stand with this? Has anyone had a similar experience.
