Help with Lowell Financial

HI,

 

My parents recieved a letter from Lowell Financial saying i owe XXXX pounds. I have never received any prior notice to this. I left the UK in 2006 and paid all my bills prior to leaving. My parents recieved nothing from Littlewoods saying i owed any money ( that is where Lowell say the debt is from) I have no proof as i left the country my bank has been closed and i have no correspondance. What can i do?

A couple of questions:

 

1) Was the letter addressed to you?

 

2) Did you have a Littlewoods account when you were in the UK?

 

You should request a copy of the credit agreement you had with Littlewoods using the template letter in the Resources section of the forum. It's quite possible that they won't be able to supply this.

You could send a CCA to Lowell and see what you get back. Littlewoods have a bad habit of never being able to produce a signed CCA and neither do Lowells

Was this letter actually addressed to them or to you?

 

If it was addressed to them, then they should immediately report them to the OFT, Trading Standards and their MP. This would be a gross missuse of your privacy.

 

If it was addressed to you, then it would be easy for them to return the letter, Gone Away, as that would be entirely true. They would not have to give any further information.
