(Apologies if this isn't the correct forum, wasn't sure where else this might fit?)

I have started working with a local community group and they intend making me a signatory on the bank account (a Barclays Community Account, i.e. the treasurers/community/group type account)

The question is (and I suspect I already know the answer), is it necessary to have a credit check to become a signatory when not a main account holder?

My credit record will set all horns blaring at Barclay if they do a check, which will mean a) the group won't have the three signatories it requires and b) a terribly embarrassing time for me with the other group members.

Barclays are sure to do a credit check, I'd expect.

Maybe have a quiet word with one of the organisers, explain that you think you may have some negative markers on your credit history. If you forewarn them, you'll look a whole lot better than if B's come back refusing to put you on the a/c, with "no explanation".

And bear in mind that negative markers are all the more common in today's financial climate.

We could do with some help from you
