Looks pretty nasty-its being covered live on BBC News 24

lots of police in full riot gear-apparantly some people hae gone inside and are doing more damage there.

Bank of England building is also under siege

Lets be absolutely clear though-the ones who were responsible for most of the damage and bringing scenes not seen since the Miners strikes were not there to complain about the Banks-this was orchastrated Anarchy.

Its people like these who have been responsible for the laws the Police have been given thats taken away freedoms of those who seek to do things by the book.

The protest and bringing that part of London to a standstill should in itself have been enough-the only people who will be rubbing their hands now will be the Insurance companies and coppers putting in claims for injuries and getting paid lots of overtime.

Personally as I was, and still am in a hotel about half a mile away from the scene, I think the Police did a brilliant job in controlling the situation.

Its unfortunate that a lot of genuine demonstrators had to be corralled while the trouble makers were stopped but I think that is the nature of our modern liberal society.

We have anarchists and terrorists who look exactly the same as you and I do and until they are seen to be committing a crime there is very little anyone can do.

We have to pay the price for our freedom and most of the time the price is acceptable but if you decide to go to a mass demonstration or similar you have to expect the police will be in control.
