Hi again,

I have a query related to the move-out inventory charges being quoted by my current landlord's agent.

A bit of history:

When I originally signed a lease (Dec 2007) there was a clause in the lease stating that the tenant would pay a 'pre-agreed' amount for the move-out inventory. This amount was never agreed and is not quoted in any document I signed at the time. Therefore my assumption is that the amount was zero.

When I renewed the lease in Dec 2008 the landlord has sneakily inserted an amount of £150 plus VAT.

Clearly I signed the second agreement, even initialled each page assuming the fine print hadn't changed. Obviously this was a mistake on my part, but I'm curious as to whether I've any grounds on which to challenge this amount. Firstly I feel it's a ridiculous amount to charge for a simple inventory, and as I didn't initially agree to it it seems even more unfair.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!
