Well met a right bunch of aggresive idiots earlier.

Had a BT debt sent to CCS then they have sold it on to:

ScotCall Debt Collecting Services

These are a real bunch on special people,

The first thing you get is a threat of a home call, i told them they would not be welcome he just asked me if i lived in a castle and he can come when he likes..

Has anyone any story's of dealing with these or advise?

Well cant say this is in line with their general ways of doing business.

Meantime-maybe you could elaborate a little more into Scotcalls apparant act of generosity?

does anyone know how i stand with a Bt debt that is made up of £40 call costs and about £500 worth of rubbish charges
What are the charges supposedly for?

HAVE YOU BEEN TREATED UNFAIRLY BY CREDITORS OR DCA's?

BEWARE OF CLAIMS MANAGEMENT COMPANIES OFFERING TO WRITE OFF YOUR DEBTS.

In my experience of these cowboys, just ignore their so called threats.I,and many other people on this site have had their threatograms. For a so called Agent to call at your house or castle!!! they need to make an appointment with you and if they do turn up unanounced, tell them to get back over the border!!! If you can understand them, when they ring you, tell them the same. In my experience of just ignoring them, they sent me a letter a few weeks ago saying that they were sending the debt back to original DCA and I have not heard a thing since then, fingers crossed:)

Scotcall visited our house twice so I reported them to Trading Standards and they have told them to only contact me by letter. So I suggest you try TS, some are very helpful and effective.

Yes agreed, not only will your TS deal with them, but also send details of your complaint to their home area TS office if its not in your locality.

I have these dealing with a BT debt which originally went to CCS who added a £40 charge - so they are chasing the debt plus the charge. The account is in dispute with BT at the moment while they look at the sales call as I was not made aware that there was a 12 month contract and changed to sky shortly into the 12 months

I have never been with BT before and everyone else actually asks you to sign a contract - there may be input form Sky as their sales guy advised that if i hadn't signed a contract there probably wasn't one - someone else is paying for this as I have been mislead on several fronts. Might end up with Sky doing something but I want to see it to its end with BT - incidentally we didn't request that the line was disconnected in the first place the council did understandably.

They also deny selling my number on to dodgy debt management companies who have been making robot calls but as the number was previously my mothers and was solely used as her public contact number (she was local councillor) I do not see how else it got on anyones marketing lists as she had a seperate long standing private number as well. Interestingly there are no other types of marketing calls just debt management ones - those seem to have stopped since I mentioned Offcom

I have reported BT to OFT as they did not inform me the debt was being passed on - BT interestly haven't answered that part of the complaint

If you can keep you head when all of those around you are losing theirs try parking your helicopter somewhere else
