The Police and Clamping

I heard that the Police have the legal authority to remove a wheel clamp from any of their vehicles by any means appropriate - is this true or just hearsay?

don,t know about the police ,but a friend of mine found a clamp on his van on private land so he cut off the padlock took the clamp to the police station and reported it as found, but do not know who owns it and it was posted into lost property! never ever heard anything else that was ten years ago.

I guess the fire brigade would be in the best position to remove a clamp - they could probably have it off in seconds with all their cutting equipment. More to the point, what sort of idiot would clamp an emergency vehicle in the first instance?

A hospital starting clamping non-emergency ambulances in its own car park not so long ago.

I think that anyone who clamps an emergency vehicle should face a severe prison sentence - such behaviour could cause lives to be lost!
