Hi,

My wife  received a ticket last month from a private parking company (UKPAO!) who monitor a free car park above Somerfields in Leeds.

We ignored it ;), but they must have got her address from DVLA :( and she has now received an increased charge notice, threatening a further increase of £3/day if not paid within 10 days .

Is it best to:

a) respond using the templates from this site

b) ignore all correspondence until a letter comes from the County Court ;)

Has anyone been taken to court yet or is this all still a game of who will give in first? :-?

Cheers

Al

UKPAO well know on here.

Chances of going to court almost certainly nil and of even less chance of them showing up in court. See this thread here and do a search for UKPAO on this site and/or at Pepipoo.

Definitely wait for court papers (which probably won't eventuate).

My advice would be to quite simply follow the above advice from the posters. Ignoring is a valid option which really does work. What you have recieved is an invoice and not a fine. As noted by the posters whoever deals with things from here on in will give up but probably not after sending you a few nasty letters threatening you with all sorts of things. By writing to them the usual case is that the will think that you are wavering into paying and will probably write back trying to pressurise you even more. Your details were indeed given to UKPAO by the DVLA who make huge sums from selling information to PPCs. Also if you are thinking about appealling it is wise to note that almost all appeals are rejected as they are done 'in house'- with only one outcome-rejection! If you believe that you are in the right and they are in the wrong it may also be a good decision to write to the Manager of Somerfield and complain about UKPAO.

Have a read around this site about them. You are not alone in having issues with them! Take care
