Hi Eyeballs

Please DO NOT TRUST CAPITA, they will stab you in the back as easily as seeing you, I used to work for a call centre in Colchester, who were taken over by Capita, they sacked everybody who had ever spoken against their takeover, I was off sick recovering from 2 heart attacks and I was poorly, but I still had to go to Colchester to see the HR person who wanted to sack me for being off so long, it was lucky that a couple of people who knew me stood up for me and told me my rights because they just wanted to sack me, I finished up getting made redundant by mutual agreement and a couple of grand pay off.

But just remember one thing, they may tell you different to not worry you, the Nurses and Dr's that are used by Capita and their clients are Paid by THEM, they are NOT an independent nurse or Dr, and some of them will stab you in the back at any opportunity. You are entitled to a home visit, don't let them get away with it.

I worked for a company, that I can not name for fear of a law suit, (yeah I live very close to the line, very close) but they put me in front of the Nurse (Independent my arse, in employment from the people I was working for) and despite having my GP's report, my Consultants report and an Independent Dr's report, saying that I was Medically UNFIT to work, she decided I was swinging the leg and recommended that I was sacked for taking so much time off, and for telling lies about my injuries.....

Anyway I waited for the HR boss to see the report and wait to see what he did, but in the mean time I did some digging and after a few under the counter enquiries, it turned out that this woman was NOT A QUALIFIED Nurse !! She told a pack of lies to get the job, had shown them forged documents and certificates etc etc, well didn't I have ammo, when he called for me I went in with my union rep and let him start talking (I knew the bloke quite well as many years ago, in the same job we worked together). anyway he started and we let him carry on until he was just about to sack me, and my union rep piped in and said "Mr ******* has something of relevance to say before you say another word, so I disclosed to him what I had found out, you should have seen his face drop, he stormed out of the office all red faced, he came back about 15 Min's later and said "I am very sorry what has happened, we have changed our minds and decided to put you out on medical grounds with a Ill Health Pension..

So it always pays to do a bit of digging...

Cap*** is quite a big company, they seem to be getting their feet in the door at some very big companies, but their staff more times than ever are not qualified in the job they are doing, so if you challenge them they don't know nothing, they are very good at HR work for companies, and they are very helpful at losing staff if a company wants to get rid of some staff... very underhandedly. Some of it illegally but as people don't know any different so they take it.

Hi Robbond

No have not at the present as Human Rights people asked to hold off until they have got contact with them to see how they react when the get letter telling them that they have breached my Rights, not only as disabled but as a human too...

We ordered our new Wheelchair Access Vehicle today, great motor, misses liked it, she's got to get used to a 7 speed manual gearbox, should have it in about 10-12 weeks or maybe less, if they have a vehicle in stock. It's a little biger than the car we have now, so now I might need a bigger Bay to accommodate for the ramp and me to get out of the vehicle... good one eh...

Hi Eyeballs

Ouch 200 big ones aint funny...

It's like me, I'm working on my wifes old desktop, Last year I decided to take an Open University course, blow me 1 week before it started my motherboard went on my desktop, no spare cash to buy another, so here I am several months later, still working on the blooming thing, it's so slow I get really frustrated with it at times... I have managed to get hold of a couple of spare motherboards via Freecycle but its getting round to do it, not 100% to doing it, but I will try and use as much of the old one as possible, but I understand that it wont work with my hard drive because windows wont accept the hard ware changes... just can't win.....

Hi Robbond

I was running XP home, had no problems until a couple of weeks before hand, then for some reason the Onboard Sound went, then little bits and bobs started happening, then one day I was checking something I had in documents and the whole thing failed, it would not restart or reboot, I checked everything but with no joy, went to computer shop he tested it and said it will need a new one mate, the motherboards gone. damn blow and blast I thought to myself, well words similar to that, but typical it was a few days before I was due to start a Robotics course with the OU which was very dependent on a computer to program the robots when they were built, so I had to try and get it all up and running I was over three weeks behind, and I couldn't catch up, so I blew the course, bum blast and other words...

But since putting that comment on, a very very kind Cagger has donated a Pewter to me so I can get up and running a lot better than I was.

I have spent most of today setting it up with what I want on it, and will probably go live on it tomorrow... what a diffence its made....

***************

Many Many thanks to that Cagger, your a life saver.

***************

I may retake the course as I have all the books and equipment here, have to see what the OU say, another thing that didn't help matters, I got rushed into hospital with a suspected Heart Attack, luckily it wasn't (I have had two in the past) b ut we did find out that there was some heart damage caused in one of them... but thats all in the past now and I hope I can keep on as I am now.

Have not been on for a few days so sorry to hear about the problems but hope you are getting up to speed with your health very quickly as I believe some people from Loughborough Council need you to keep them on their toes!

Yeah I agree misses might not be too happy unless they do the washing, hoovering, cleaning etc etc.... so she can concentrate on her garden...

It seems strange at the mo, waiting for the Human rights people to be dealing with my case, I'm lost, so who's next on the list....... all bank claims in, credit cards doing, car parking being dealt with......

still waiting to have my lift fitted, thats down to money from Social Services.... so can't decorate those two rooms, got carpets to lay but can't because of lift, so I feel lost....

Hi hope this message finds you in good if not better health.

Got DLA mobility at high rate care at low without having to appeal whiich I am v happy with.

I phoned Capita today to see where I was with ill health retirement and they said my case had been close on 16th and forwarded on to HR then my line manager. They couldn`t or wouldn`t tell me or him over the phone what the decision is. Is this bad news do you know?

Well done Eyeballs nice to hear someone has finally managed to get their DLA.

I sent a letter yesterday as my middle rate care is for daytime only, but I now need care 24/7 because of the sleep apnea and have had a couple of falls when walking with the Mrs to the loo during the night. I had a couple of sensor lights put up so I don't have to search for the light switch, or find my glasses, they are wonderful things, just open the bedroom door and it goes on (well for me it does but Not always for the misses). If I get the higher rate then at least she will be reconised as my FULLTIME carer and not just during the day.

So at least will be reconised as my carer all the time.

Went to quaks yesterday, diabetes is playing up, the average rate has been for the last few years around the 6-7 mark but the average taken from the blood tests shows an average of around 12.3.... whoops too high, have had to increase my drugs and if it doesnt come down to about 7 in next two weeks then got to increase another pill and go and see specialist nurse... oh isnt life full of surprises ...

Sounds to me that you definatly should get the high rate care allowance. Are you on Direct payments from your County Council for care? My wife is and up until I became incapable myself they agreed that I could be paid as her carer although she had carers in the day. This worked out as much better than carers allowance but does involve some bookeeping as you are her employer

Because I was working at the time on good money I paid ant tax on what she paid me at 40% and stayed under the NIC threshold of £110. If your wife dosn`t work she would have her personal allowance before paying at 20%

The Council looked on it as me being her Personal Assistant.

Perhaps you`ve already looed at this. If you want more on tax I pay under the SIMPLIFIED PROCEDURE Online

By the way how`s the parking going?

Can you explain a little bit more what you meant about being paid via our County Council, at present my wife is my carer and she gets carers allowance via the DWP, so what is this about, who do I have to contact as money is very tight here, and a couple of extra quid would be a big boost and the thing about the tax please. I dont know about anything from them at all.

:???::???::???:

I am currently waiting on Human rights people to start the case against the CC they will inform me when they get a reply of some sort, I have to wait until then so no news update I'm afraid.

OK

We had a care manager come around some years ago and assess my wifes care needs This was when I was in full time work but wouldn`t really have mattered although they do means test you but with mortgage costs etc taken into account our monthly contribution to her care as nil. Unfortunately now I`m disabled myself I can`t be paid anymore but my wife is free to employ another `PA`

My wife currently gets £911 per month to pay the agency carers, pay me,third party liability insurance in case I have an accident whilst caring for her, travel and attendance at a disabled centre once a week but she could ask for funds to go every day if she wanted.

Also amazingly they help quite substantially with the cost of 2 weeks respite care to a private care home with medical facilities. This is in the region of £2500 for 2 weeks! The rest is normally paid by the homes charitable trust as the normal fees are approx £3500.

Below i`ve pasted from my Councils website just the jist of it.

Welcome to our website for people who use, or are thinking of using, Direct Payments (DPs) in Kent.

Direct payments are local council payments for people who have been assessed as needing help from social services, and who would like to arrange and pay for their own care and support services instead of receiving them directly from the local council. Everyone will be offered this option after a social services assessment, and for those people who choose Direct Payments it will give them greater choice and control over the support they receive.

If you have been to the Kent Direct Payments website before you will know that this is a new website. At the moment, the site only has core information on it, but over the coming months we are looking to develop the site to ensure it meets the needs of the people who use Direct Payments. To do that.

This may not be available to you if it`s another post code lottery but worth asking you social services about.

If you want any more or if you want to speak pehaps you could PM me.

Cheers

Thanks for that Eyeballs, I did not know that a scheme like this even existed and my county does have a scheme and I think I may have had contact with them with regards to my lift and the advance payments that the local council wanted me to pay, they paid for it through there like "slush fund".

I am going to wade through all the information about it and then I amy well PM you for further info. Thanks so much...

That was exactly the point I made to Social Services that my wife would be horrified for anyone other than me wash change her etc. Luckily we now have 2 daughters who are old enough to help her now. My wife had a very successful career before she became ill and has all her faculties although the amount of drugs she`s on would fell a horse.

Hope you are all keeping well - Have missed a couple of weeks on here due to health issues and hope keefyboy is still bending the councils (unlistening) ear about disabled parking!

Hi Robbond, sorry to hear of your health problems it must be contagious, I have had really bad problems with my blood sugar levels, we increased my tablets twice in 3 days to try and sort it out but no it still wanted to dart oll over the place, so last thursday I was put onto Insulin, its simmered it down a bit but I think the doseage might have to be doubled to get me down to the figures they want. Anyway that was besides the point, in our local rag there is a story about parking notice problems that LCC has c*cked up and the problems it has created, I will post it below
