Yes there is a way to claim these broker fees back (most of the fee any way).

The consumer credit act 1974 section 155, this applies if –

  • The broker has made an introduction to a source of credit

and

  • no agreement has resulted within six months.

You may not take up the credit because the interest is too high or the repayments are more than you can afford etc. anyway if this is the case you should write to the company and request your fee back less the £5 which the section says they are able to retain as a nominal charge. if you know you will not be using the introduction they have provided you do not need to wait until the six months have elapsed before writing to them.

If however they have not provided any introduction then they have not performed their part of the contract.Court action is often of putting so the alternative is to use the Financial Ombudsman Service who are very user friendly and cost nothing for the consumer.

[problem]! The Loan Supermarket/The Lending Group [problem]!

AKA: CARTER AND CARTER

I had £99.99 taken from my bank account.

If anybody has applied for a loan through this company. You have probably had from £39.99 - £349.99 taken out of your bank account for a one off 'administration fee'.

All the people they 'rob' off are asked to give their bank details - long digit on your card number and your 3 digit security code. You are told this is for 'security' OR 'validation/verification'

After giving these details - which most people do not question to give out - which is understanding - as the websites of the company look legitimate and very professional. You are then told there is an administration fee ranging from £49.99 to £149.99 which they take off you as soon as you put the phone down. I do not know how they work out how much your 'application' will cost to process but the most they can get the better. (Commision based) - even if you change your mind after giving details of your account or you want to have a think about the loan you have applied for. They will STILL take your money.

They send you NO paperwork

If your loan has been declined you are told you are entitled to your money back. And you have an every right as it is your money.

No matter how many letters you send or phone calls you make you will never get your money back. The people on the phones are not there to help you but to simply make money out of you and others.

This is theift and it needs to be stopped. Thousands of people are getting robbed and 'fobbed off' when they try and do something about it.

STOP wasting your time and money on phone calls and letters and go to BBC's watchdog, consumer direct, police.

WAYS TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK

Another option may be to approach your bank. They may be able to do an IMDEMNITY CLAIM and refund your money, then their retail fraud team would investigate and claim the money back from the company.

Their is ALOT of negative feedback on the internet about theloansupermarket many people have contacted watchdog, and from what I've read there has been interest from the BBC to investigate what is going on here. If enough people do this maybe it will push them to take action...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/ ....just click on the 'Got a Story' link to tell them what has happened to you.

The Office of Fair Trading also has a tool to uncover scams...https://secure.consumerdirect.gov .uk.....follow this link and tell them your story.

the more people that do this SOMETHING WILL BE DONE.

I contacted them to get figures on a loan. They told me that they wuld need to take a credit or debit card number to verify my identity. This I done.

After I had given them all of the details they required to proces the loan they told me that they would be back on contact with me once they have received details of the lenders that could help me.

Before the end of the call they told me that they had great news and they have found a lender - not giving their details to me - and that they would send out the information relating to the loan to my home address, if I was happy with the figures and wanted to go ahead with the loan then there is an "set up" free of £49.99. I had decided there and then that I was not paying for somone to give me some company name.

To date I have not received anything from them however they went ahead and had taken the £49.99 from my bank account leaving me with only £1.01 to live on for the next 7 days.

I am a stuborn fart and once I have got me heels dug in do not move.

I will not give up before I get the money back.

I will report them the the CCC, my banks fraud department, the police and the FSA.

I too will not let this one go..

Look at the momentum this thread is gaining , the number of 'scammed' consumers is growing daily.

My bank say they will have the money back in my account within 5-7 days. I hope so. Has anybody else tried their bank to see if they can help. Apparently if no PIN number is entered with the transaction you are pretty much covered. These people NEED STOPPED NOW

I have to confess to being in two minds about this group.

I only managed to re-contact them because I Googled a number I had on my phone and found this Forum.

My position is that I (and I can't remember how) found their number two weeks ago and contacted them with the intent of finding a cheap loan to consolidate my debts and reduce my monthly outgoings.

Like many of the Posters on this forum I was surprised when I was asked for my bank card details but the lady I was talking to seemed very helpful and said about the fee. I don't mind the whole fee thing and its small change in terms of the loan that I assumed I was getting so I said 'ok'.

Alarm bells rang louder however when I asked with who had they found me a loan from. The lady said that she would'nt be able to tell me that because of the 'Data Protection Act'. What?! I didn't question her howver even though I knew this was wrong.

So my current position is that I applied for the loan on the 14th and was told to expect to receive something in the post in 5 -10 working days. These have'nt quite yet expired but I am getting worried because of what I have discovered about how lousey this company is.

Contacting them is a nightmare, they have answered once and I got a young sounding receptionist who was able to confirm my request but could'nt confirm anything else ie when was the agreemetn to sign dispatched or for what amount etc. I was put through to someone else she thought might be able to help and then the phone just rang and rang. I tried again today but the phone just rings and then I can hear someone just hanging up - very alarming!

I'm still prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt but I'm worried I have just being billed and nothing will happen. Surely they have succesfully loaned to people, but these people we don't hear from because they are happy customers and have no need for a forum like this? I am astonished though that a Financial UK based company is run so badly - are'nt its mangers seriously worried about their future because of it?

My concerns at this stage are;

1. Nothing arrives at all and I am billed anyway

2. Something arrives but not for the right amount

3. I've wasted valuable time on the whole thing

I might STILL get my loan and hopefully will hear no more from the Lending Group or whatever they are called. However I really did need a loan some time ago and I've a horrible feeling that I have lost both precious time and ironically money on deciding to secure a loan via this dodgy company.

Any thoughts anyone? (no hysterics please re Police etc, just rational advice will do:))

Stop wasting your time ringing them

DO NOT give them the time of day or the benefit of the doubt.

You will not get a refund, and there is no paperwork to be issued.

only 3 out 300 people actually get a loan with these people. Your best off searching a lender yourself it would be cheaper and will save you stress.

The Lending Group/TLG Loans/Carter And Carter/The Loan supermarket

are all the same thing. They are not there to help but to rob you.

The staff that work there get commission off your money, they are greedy and thoughtless.

if anyone wants their money back go to your bank or ring them and ask for an indemnity claim and they will put it in your account straight away.

Just tell them what has happend.

Hope this helps...

I contacted them again today and I actually got though!

Basically I acted as if I knew none of the negative feedback on them and just asked about the whereabouts of my loan.

I was assured that it is 7-14 working days before I would hear anything. I applied on the 14th soI am only just in the timespan they said. I will obviously keep an eye on the time.

I managed to speak with two men and took a name 'Ben'. I realise this is far from watertight but they assured me my loan is on course and my paperwork would arrive within this time and if not to call back.

In the meantime I guess I just have to wait. I'm nervous about taking another loan in case the same thing happens again or I am refused which damages my credit rating.

Alex, how do you know only 3 out of 300 receive a loan? Where did you get this info from?
