Closed this account back in 2001, but there were a few charges to be claimed, so sent off a Data Protection Act on 30/06. Statements arrived very shortly after and despite there only being £80 claimable (it is mine after all), sent off a prelim on 11/07. Letter arrives on 19/07 declining to pay up.

So, since they've categorically refused to pay, I've sent my LBA this morning.

It's funny how the various banks react so differently. First Direct paid up almost £600 at prelim stage. Barclays refuse £80. Bless.

Tell me about it...... I got paid out by FD (at LBA stage), but Barclays OMG they will just drag it out for a long as they can. I'm currently at AQ stage!!!!

Some of the banks have different arrangements for different amounts. Barclays only ever pay up straight away if it is a small amount AND it is recent.

Good luck with your claim

BEFORE starting your claim read through the FAQ's and if there's something you aren't sure of then ask.

  • 3 weeks later...

It seems they want to test my resolve. Have received a second refusal to refund the charges, so yesterday filed a claim online for the £80 plus £36.01 interest plus costs, which was issued this morning.

It feels good.

True. You could probably send it in Argos vouchers and it would make any difference.

Have today received the Acknowledgement of Service, stating they intend to defend. Usual response I believe?
