I have recently returned to this country after a period working overseas. I have received a letter from Westcot regarding a debt which I never knew I had. Because of the length of time abroad, If I do owe the money within the next 2 month I think this debt would be statue barred in any case. Should I respond or try to wait out the two months. The debt is for a non payment of a credit card at £250. I did not claim any bank charges etc but I know they will be some that i could reclaim. Surely if I did owe this money there would be a CCJ somewhere? Why have Westcot not gone to this stage already?

Sorry for all the questions but the letter came as a bit of a shock.

There isn't necessarily a CCJ there....Westcot have NO legal powers !!

PLEASE NOTE - I am not a legal expert, what is stated is my own opinion and from what I have learnt from this forum and my own experiences.
