E.D.F.

Today i received from E.D.F. the written notification of the latest

tariffs for gas & electricity.

These had been widely reported & were of no great surprise.

However, having spent the front page reminding me of the £50 per year discount i receive for dual fuel & the fact that they were offering me 4 of these fuel saving light bulbs, (big deal)

hidden away on the back of the letter was the information,

that as your house is not part of the national gas network

it would now have to charge me for transportation costs previously met by E.D.F.

This adds some £ 42 a year to my gas bill for NO extra gas!!

On top of the 23% price rise in gas it means that

my gas bill has effectively gone up by some 35 to 40 % in a day!

Yep, being with an IGT is a pain in the proverbial at times. More and more housing developers are opting for the cheaper cost of connection to IGT's over the area DN, leaving the customer to make up the costs over the next 20ish years.

Of course, OFGEM's attempts to get some parity in the systems used by individual IGT's and the DN's may make a difference sooner, but the timescales for some is still something like up to 2018 to be compliant.

On the bright side, if you can call it that, being with an IGT shipper would make it less likey (though not impossible) that you would ever have an ETM force fitted or be disconnected.

If you haven't done so already, find out which IGT you are with and make sure they are holding address and meter details correctly, if they are not and you ever want to change supplier it will be a nightmare of epic proportions.

What is your annual gas bill, roughly?
