I would say, most definitely not; it defies the objective of being private.

If, however, the sender/recipient was in agreement, then that may be OK.

Come, come. PM's are just that- private.

Intrigue over and nothing to worry about as the issue will be resolved.

PM's to put it clearly can contain mis-information, we all know its happened (not always intentionally)so should they be copied to a main forum for comment checking, or say forwarded to the site team for example.

I think the later, they have sanctions that can be imposed.

So I was right, then. Several newbies have been PMing me ... lately ... just joined ... never opened, though, purely because of that. Eg, new, what do they want if they just joined? And the other factor being ... you just don't know what the content is going to be eg abusive. New version of their telephone calls? Except through a PM, instead?

Turned my PM facility off for now. As a result. The ones I mean are still in the inbox, unopened. Probably innocent, but with stuff that's been going on lately ... with debt collectors appearing on the forum ... or, least, people pretending to be ... as you never can tell ... trolls are on every internet forum, they get so predictable ... but not all operate the same way. Only the obvious ones, eg the ones who are just out to get a reply from someone I mean here. The ones who post what looks like confusing nonsense, just to get a rise or cause trouble.

Sorry, didn't realize what this thread was about until I opened it just now ... really posting in it to divert my mind from a terrible thing right now more than anything.

As SSL says, if anyone recives a PM they don't like, or are unsure of, you should forwarded it to one of the team. Best be safe !!

Just out of interest (and hopefully I've been around long enough NOT to be called a troll!!!!)............but what's the scenario when an op receives a PM that is obviously private but that they find upsetting. They then disclose the PM outside of CAG (so its obviously NOT private anymore) and end up causing a shed-load of trouble for the person who originally posted the PM........... even though they didn't keep the PM private in the first place?

Just curious........... u know me, lol!!! ;):D

I suppose if a PM is upsetting then one should refer it to the site team, the main concern I have is advice by PM.

It is possible for example to honestly believe in a course of action, then PM this advice, it could be wrong however how can this be checked and corrected it can't unless it is placed on the forum.

If a user receives what they think is an 'upsetting' pm wouldn't it be just as easy to block that sender from sending more pm's to them. End of :)

My sentiments exactly andrew.......... and it should be for the eyes of the site team/original op only if this is the case.

I'm merely curious (given that this thread adresses PM's) about a certain situation that recently arose!

Like I said.......... just curiousness........ or nosiness (well, I AM a woman after all, lol!!!!) :p;)
