You are nearly there but just be prepared for them to offer you a part of the amount - you can accept that only as part payment if you want.

The total balance they owe you now is as angela says above!

Does this make sense?

Hey people, the bank have made some contact! predictable to say the least, you guys make this sound too easy, here goes...............

Dear Mr mudflap

Ref : Wra wra wra.

Thank you for your letter dated 25 July 2006 requesting a refund of your bank charges of ***** going back six years.

In circumstances where you have autorised a payment that would, if met by us, lead to your account going overdrawn or over an agreed averdraft limit, wra wra wra! wra wra wra! wra wra wra! If you claim for a refund proceeded to court, we therefore believe we would successfully resist any legal challenge in relation to these fees.

You know whats coming next.........

HSBC is, however mindful of the management time and irrecoverable legal costs that it may incur in relation to such a claim. For those commercial reasons alone, and without any admission of liability whatsoever, HSBC is prepared to make a payment to you in the sum of £1980.00 representing the charges applied in full and final settlement of this matter.

If you accept this proposal please sign wra wra wra.......................within 10 days........... wra wra wra.

wra wwwwrrraaa wrrrraaa.

Yours Sincereley

Mr Langdale
