Received a letter from the Halifax yesterday dated 29/03/2006 saying that they would provide the statements for the last six years and that there would be a £5.00 charge for these. They have asked for authority to debit my sons account for the £5.00. ( The account hasn't been open for six years)

It also states in the letter "that the majority of transactions on your account are automated and all application of charges is automated. The only manual intervention around charges would be when a refund is made"

received a letter from Halifax this morning offering £180.00 as full and final settlement of my complaint. Do I now reply or start court proceedings?

No, you send the LBA (letter before action) now, this gives them a further 14 days, incorporate into the letter that you will accept the £180.00 but not as full and final settlement.

Have just been reading through your thread - see that you sent a SAR letter - did you enclose £10 cheque with this and then they request a further £5 for copy statements or did you not enclose anything and then they came back and asked you for £5?

Im just doing my SAR letter and was going to put in a cheque for £10 but won't if I don't need to and can just request them take £5 from my a/c.

Thanks
