Afternoon,

 

I was sent a water bill from United Utilities asking for £150 to cover from April 2008 to APril 2009. I live in a rented property and don't know if I will be there in 12 months and I object in principle for paying for something up to 12 months in advance, so I set up a monthly direct debit on the United Utilities website.

 

A new water statement duly arrived and I'm now paying £300 for the 12 months water.

 

Is this standard practice and is it lawful? I'm pretty surprised by the whole thing, so could do with some ideas for how best to respond as I don't thinkk it's fair to punish someone like this.
