But may i make a suggestion?

I do not think that the parents should be allowed to get away with being so irresponsible as they provided him with a car (in one way or another) which was totally unsuitable for an inexperienced driver.

The convicted drivers parents are allegedly worth in excess of £130MILLION, they own the Buxted Chicken brand amongst others.

Liability is not in doubt, one would think that the insurance company (He is insured by Japanese-owned Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance of the UK. Shame on them!) OR the parents would promptly put their hands in their pockets!:o

To top it, before this case came to court, this driver was stopped for speeding. Shocking!

Ignoring the obvious wealth of the family and the failings in the law covering this crime, motor insurance is a legal requirement for all drivers to ensure any "accidents" that happen can be adequately compensated for.

If the insurance company concerned then turn around and refuse to pay out for an obvious case of need what is the point of having insurance?

I could understand an interim payment with the final figure to be agreed, if necessary in court, but a totally refusal of a settlement is just an insult to the family of the little girl who has been maimed and to the British motoring laws.
