Last year, MBNA had increased the interest rate on my Virgin Card from 14.9% to 25.9% just because I had always been on time for my payments and had never been over my limit.

Then yesterday, as Bank of England announced a cut in the base rate, I recieved another letter from them telling me they are increasing the interest rate on my Halfords Card from 14.9% to 21.9%!

These guy are such b*****ds, they only gave me 1 month notice of the rise, so I couldn't even get the balance paid off in time.

NatWest for £272:Full and final settlement: 13/11/06

Argos Card for £52.50:Paid to Argos account: 10/11/06

Bank of Scotland for £218:Full and final settlement: 25/01/07

I think quite a lot of the CC companies are doing this at the moment. An article in the paper suggested it was a reaction to their charges being forced down by the OFT !. If they cant get you one way, they will get you another. x
