Hi all,

I wonder if somone can give me a bit of advice regarding my local authority water bill.My house was unocupied for around four months last year when a lot of work was done to it,i told the water people that this was going on and was trying for an exemption for that period, never heard anything back from them dispite my builder sending them a confirmation letter with the start and end dates of the work.Got home from work today to find they have sikked the balliffs on me (happy days:confused: ) can i dispute this with a cca ? any thoughts guys.

As Conniff mentioned above, they cannot send the bailiffs in until the matter has been to court and a judge has issued a CCJ. If you've not received any court papers, then it is likely an empty threat.

Keep at the water company, and if nothing comes of it, they normally snap to attention if you lodge a complaint with the consumer council.

If the DCA hassles you, there is a very good debt collectors forum here which will help you to deal with them :)
